How to Update the TalkSwitch Management Software and Firmware

Step 1:If you have an existing version of TalkSwitch software installed on your PC, launch your TalkSwitch software, and useFile > Save to Fileto store your current TalkSwitch configuration file to a convenient location on your PC for future reference (if needed).
Step 2: Download the version of the software you would like installed (either through a web link download or from the CD). The download includes the software, firmware and documentation.

Step 3:Run the installerTSM6xxx_US.exeprogram. A Language Selection window will appear. Use the drop-down menu to select English, Espanol or Francais. All subsequent instructions will be displayed in your selected language, as will help documents and resource links. Click theOKbutton to proceed.
Step 4:If a previous version of the software is installed, a dialog will pop up and request to uninstall a previous version. SelectYESto proceed. Though you have the option to retain older version(s) of TalkSwitch Configuration software, we recommend that you uninstall all previous versions.
Your saved configuration files are retained during any TalkSwitch software update.
Step 5:A TalkSwitch Setup dialog will appear, describing compatibility criteria for this software. If your system meets the compatibility criteria, clickNextto proceed.
Step 6:A window will display the software end-user license agreement.
ClickingI Agreewill permit the installation to proceed.
Step 7:The next window will display software programs to be installed. All programs are recommended, though the window offers checkboxes to omit installation of non-essential programs. ClickNextto proceed.
Step 8:A window will appear allowing you to specify the location on your PC to install the necessary software. The default location is recommended. Click theInstallbutton to proceed.
The installation will proceed, with progress displayed throughout. A Java software update may be included to ensure your PC is compatible with TalkSwitch software. Within a few minutes the update process will complete.
Step 9:When all files have been loaded, you will be given the option to include shortcuts to the TalkSwitch software. ClickNextto proceed.
A final window will confirm that the installation has completed successfully. Click theFinishbutton.
Note: If the installation did not succeed, close the installer, ensure that the PC is running a fully-updated, compatible version of Windows, then re-try the installation.
If necessary contact your Authorized TalkSwitch reseller, or the TalkSwitch Technical Assistance Center at 1.866.393.9960 for further assistance.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING FIRMWARE


In order to take advantage of new features,you need to update the firmware on all of your TalkSwitch units. This process will require that the system not be used for phone calls for between 3-45 minutes per unit (depending on memory usage). During the update the TalkSwitch unit(s) will reboot several times. A completion dialog will notify when the process is complete.
Step 1:Ensure TalkSwitch is connected to the same LAN as your PC. (If necessary connect your PC directly to TalkSwitch using a LAN cable).
Step 2:Run TalkSwitch Management Software. The program will automatically detect connected TalkSwitch units.
Step 3:A Firmware Update Required dialog will appear with information about a mandatory interim update, which TalkSwitch will manage automatically. ClickUpdateto proceed.
Step 4:When software establishes a connection with the TalkSwitch unit, a window will pop up, informing you that new firmware is available. ClickUpdateto proceed.
Step 5:A dialog describing the update process will appear. ClickYesto proceed. A second dialog will appear asking you to lock the system during the update. ClickForce Lockto proceed.
A copy of your current TalkSwitch configuration file is saved, then a new configuration file is created, which contains your previous settings and default settings for new features. Progress will be displayed as each essential phone system file is updated. When a completion dialog appears, clickOKto proceed.
Step 6:When the update is complete, your newly converted configuration file will be saved to your TalkSwitch units, and the configuration software will open.
Step 7:Prior to using the phone system we strongly recommend you optimize the audio performance of your telephone lines.
From the configuration software left menu selectTelephone Lines, then click theOptimize Linesbutton in theLine Optimizationfield. AnOptimize Lineswindow will appear. Click theRun Optimizationbutton to proceed.
When the line optimization process is complete click theClosebutton to return to configuration of your TalkSwitch phone system.
Congratulations!Your TalkSwitch software and firmware updates are complete.
